An interview with Nolie

Updated: Nov 25

We got to sit down with Indiana raised, now LA based, artist Nolie and it went a little something like this...

How did you get your start in music?

Being around my father while growing up had a lot to do with it, he was always traveling and teaching himself new instruments, writing his own songs and or filling our moments with music, that’s absolutely where it “started” I began my own sort of musical explorations in middle school, playing in bands up until the end of my high school years.

Where are you from?

I’m from a VERY small highway town outside of Evansville, Indiana, just straight coal mines, farm country and lots of automotive industry families

Tell us the story behind your new song 'Think Back'?

Think Back has a lot of relation to your last question, it’s a bit of a call to a younger me and those days of my life growing up in a very particular part of the country, kind of saying “look how far you’ve made it” as well as giving that feeling of being excited and wanting of what the future holds.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a Saturday?

I feel like Saturday’s I always wanna get up early and drive with some groovy music (lately LEISURE or Cruiiise) to go get an onion bagel, probably from Maury’s in Silver Lake.

What is your dream superpower?

Call me classic but I reaaaaally would just love to be able to fly haha

What is one album that changed your life?

SZA- Ctrl - There are always a few that really do it (blonde was obviously a v large moment) but since I moved to LA, this album has stuck with me the mostttt. It always makes me want to push my melodies harder and harder when I hear anything she makes.

What’s up next for you?

Trying to figure out the best way to get some live shows back on the horizon and focusing on releasing these next songs!
